In July 2007, ECo2 applied for planning permission to NKDC for a straw burning power station, to be built on land at Boston Road between Kirkby la Thorpe (KLT) and The Hoplands, Sleaford. Since the initial application there has been some press coverage at various stages of the application, but it has been difficult to keep up-to-date with the relevant information. Whilst it is clear that as a Country we need to review our national power generation capacity, avoiding long term reliance on overseas suppliers, it is equally essential that our planning takes into consideration the sustainability and reduction of detrimental emissions of every scheme that is proposed. The start of the new year is an perhaps an opportune time to review the current situation locally, and examine the so called facts.

Thanks for all the emails of support and suggestions while the sites been offline (ish) - I hope that you'll all feel that it'll be worthwhile getting involved in some way going forward. As ever, we've a few ideas about what we'd like to do (hence this new system) - but, for now, I'll save those for later. (Click on Read More below to read the rest of this message)
